Empowering Women in AI: ZAKA Celebrates NOMU Al Ghurair Program Graduation at RIT Dubai

We at ZAKA were honored to cohost the graduation of the NOMU Al Ghurair Women in AI program at RIT Dubai, in partnership with the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF). The event celebrated 70 remarkable Emirati and Arab women who completed our 20 week AI Certification program designed to prepare them for the future of work in artificial intelligence.

Our Co-founder and Head of Partnerships Larissa Abi Nakhle led the ceremony alongside our Head of Education Amanda Hachem, who played a vital role in delivering the educational journey from start to finish. The event was enriched by the presence of Dr. Youssef Al Assaf, President of RIT Dubai, who welcomed graduates to explore future collaboration with the university and emphasized the need to preserve human values in technology.

Our program included 12 weeks of intensive AI training followed by an 8 week capstone project. Graduates applied their skills to real world problems with guidance from industry mentors. One standout project BookBuddy AI showcased how AI can enhance bilingual learning for children.

A keynote was delivered by Dr. Aishah Al Yammahi, Strategic Advisor at Alef Education, who underscored the importance of Emirati leadership in AI and education.
