At زكا, we believe real-world exposure is key to shaping the next generation of AI leaders. As part of the NOMU Al Ghurair Women in AI Program, we organized immersive site visits to give participants firsthand insights into how AI is transforming industries across the MENA region.
Careem | Redefining Mobility with AI
We visited Careem, where the Data & AI team welcomed us into their innovation hub to explore how AI is transforming mobility.
Mr. Hani Almousli, Director of Data Science, and Mr. Mohamad Charafeddine shared insights into Careem’s AI strategy, offering a behind-the-scenes look at everything from route optimization to personalized user experiences. It was an engaging and interactive visit that highlighted how data science drives everyday mobility at Careem, and how intelligence is seamlessly integrated into movement.

Hear it from our participant: “It was interesting to see how personalization can be taken to a whole new level. It’s really interesting how Careem uses the right amount of data to personalize the widgets, to personalize the search, and always offer the best experience”

It was inspiring to learn about QudraTech’s mission to build a strong Emirati AI workforce through upskilling and career development.

L’Oréal | How AI is Revolutionizing BeautyTech
In our final visit, the Data & AI team at L’Oréal revealed how they’re using AI to revolutionize the beauty industry. From customized skincare solutions to data-driven product innovation, it’s clear that beauty and tech are no longer separate worlds! They’re merging, beautifully.
It was also inspiring to see women driving this innovation, with team members from diverse backgrounds upskilling into AI and data roles to shape the future of beauty.

“Being at the L’Oréal headquarters has been extremely enriching for our learners, they had an opportunity to come, ask questions, and understand more how AI is being integrated into the everyday functions and business units within L’Oréal”
Gloria Botero – Head of Programs Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation
This was our very first time introducing site visits for our participants, and the experience has been nothing short of inspiring. They had the unique opportunity to engage directly with companies and witness firsthand how AI and data are applied across different industries.
